1984

Chisato Yasui is an artist specializing in ceramics and mixed media. She obtained a master’s degree in art and design from Tsukuba University in 2010. She is one of the few female ceramic artists in Japan and was selected to participate in the Woman’s Association of Ceramic Art exhibition in 2021, which aims to bring works by female ceramic artists into the Kyoto Museum collection.

Chisato Yasui works with the process of coil forming (hand-building). This is a method of forming ceramics that allows the axis of a form to be moved during the creative process, to cut and separate a form, but also to combine completely different forms and to invert the top and bottom.
