1990

Based in Shigaraki, he studied at Kanazawa College of Art and obtained a doctorate in Fine Arts. He produces often monumental works, which he does not title, preferring to leave the interpretation to the viewer. After shaping the forms by hand, he bisque fires them, then glazes and fires them again at a low temperature. Next, he builds a brick kiln around each piece and raises the temperature, then adds millet or rice husks, which carbonizes the surface. It is this stage of the process that brings out the shimmering colors and random patterns on the surface.

He was selected to exhibit at the 2019 Korea International Ceramic Art Biennale and was one of the youngest finalists in the “LOEWE Craft Prize 2019” exhibited at the Sogetsu Kaikan in Tokyo.
